About PRESERVE
P
PRESERVE is a campaigning organisation supported by local community opinion and donation, whose aim is to preserve the green space and rural environment of Chelveston Airfield and the tranquil quality of life of the surrounding villages. PRESERVE has been formed to provide a community response to the proposed development by Chelveston Renewable Energy Limited.
a
Northamptonshire County Council granted planning permission to Chelveston Renewable Energy for an anaerobic digestion plant in December 2008 and a biofuelled engine driven plant in June 2009. Further to these, Chelveston Renewable Energy Ltd is proposing to add 9 wind turbines, each higher than St. Paul’s Cathedral on the same site. PRESERVE believes that this is an unacceptable amount of industrialisation, which will transform the local environment.
PRESERVE is not against renewable energy: it believes that there is a need for national debate on the contribution it can make to our energy requirements, and how best to site renewable energy developments to maximise output and minimise the impact on the surrounding environment.
