PRESERVE is a campaigning organisation supported by local community opinion and subscription

Principal Objective
To preserve the green space and rural environment of Chelveston Airfield.

Structure

Executive Group
Comprising of seven local people including a Chairman and Vice Chairman with the role of developing a strategy and ensuring the achieving of the above principal objective.

The Executive Group will be responsible for the strategy and policies development and project planning with the Action Group. Each member of the Executive Group will have specific responsibilities in the campaigning and achieving of the above objective.

Action Group
The Action Group will have the responsibility of communicating to the Executive Group progress against all identified action and implementing the Executive Group’s decision making.

Rules
Election of Executive Group and Action Group members will be by nomination, seconded and voted for at an Annual General Meeting.

  1. Members can be co-opted onto the Executive Group as and when appropriate by a majority vote of Preserve members up to a maximum of two.
  2. Sudden vacancies will be filled by a majority vote of Executive Board members at a scheduled meeting.
  3. A Quorum will be 50% of the total Executive Group membership.
  4. The Executive Group will meet as deemed necessary.
  5. A minimum of seven days notice of meeting to be given unless emergency meeting required.
  6. Preserve is a not for profit organisation and is exempt under the Data Protection Act 1998.
  7. A general meeting will be called as and when deemed necessary by the Executive Group but in not less than six months from the last General Meeting.
  8. The Group will disband when the objective has been achieved or the purpose of the group has become irrelevant.

Methodology
The principal methods of campaigning will include the following:

  1. Developing general public awareness of the effects of the proposed developments on the environment, health and quality of life of local communities.
  2. Implementing a programme of presentations to local parish and town councils within the areas of high impact.
  3. Exerting general pressure on the determining Councils to reject proposals that contravene the primary objective.
  4. Liaising with nominated representatives of local councils and politicians to determine status and procedures of planning processes.
  5. Influencing and determining the Government and councils to consider fully all aspects of environmental impact and asserting that any current or future developer of this site provides adequate and comprehensive information.
  6. Lobbying and influencing MPs, MEPs, and other local elected representatives and Council Members including those within the planning committees.
  7. Developing and organising a collection of well researched facts and figures that expose the negative impact on the local communities and contravenes the primary objective.
  8. Designing, printing and distributing literature to local communities that support the achieving of our primary objective.
  9. Arranging and organising public meetings in order to demonstrate and win support of Preserve’s objective.
  10. Monitoring the activities and submissions of CRE and any other future developer, to ensure that they are accurate, balanced and take into account the needs and views of local communities.
  11. Challenging CRE and any future developer, to provide detailed analysis and information on the effects and consequences of their proposals on local community/wildlife and the environment.
  12. Developing and implementing a marketing/communication and PR campaign to assist in the achieving of Preserve’s primary objective.
